Present situation & Outline
It is a basic and necessary job for a botanical garden to collect various kind of plants. Currently, there are more than 1,000 botanical gardens or tree gardens around the world, among which about 200 botanical gardens are participating in Index seminum, a international project for seeds interchanging between them.
This project is very beneficial, especially to our country that is relatively poor in plant resources, because through the project, the participating gardens are able to get the seeds that they want for free from the gardens all over the world.
YEOMIJI Botanical Garden has taken part in the project, sending more than 100 kinds of native plant seeds until now and collecting and test-cultivating about 200 kinds of plants from overseas gardens per year, And we put on display some of the collected plants that are excellent in display effect.

Purpose of the Project
The international seed interchanging project could help increase the variety of plants in YEOMIJI Botanical Garden and it also allow us to show various plants to our visitors.
Through the project, we could have a basis of plant cultivating studies, and get great help in using plants for commerce.
The project would enable us to get the advanced technology and a mount of research materials from the advanced botanical gardens that could be helpful for the development of our garden.
Most of the plants we get from the overseas gardens are the ones that are introduced into Korea for the first time, so they are very useful as materials for various research, especially in the field of horticulture of gardening.
